Is your company invoking Mandatory Leave of Absence due to the recession?

Out Chairman announced in late Feb that EVERYONE (all 60,000) have to take a week off in March without pay. He will probably do it again in Q2. This is after terminating 10% in January. This is a US co. Is this common?
