Opinions wanted on "dog benefit"?

You do what you have to do and nobody will fault you there. But why not set your target for $10000 or more and donate everything above your cost to your local humane society. Once you get the word out, you may get a veterinarian to donate the surgery and then you can give ALL the money to the shelter!!
