Does "non prover� ad ottenere la perfezione" really mean, "I will not try to obtain perfection" in Italian?

I want to get a tattoo that REALLY means something to me.. so with that said I want to use the phrase "I will not try to obtain perfection" (which someone really wise once told me) and change it into italian to help show a sense of pride for my italian side of the family. However, i do not want to risk puttin something completely incorrect on my body.
