Devices to recharge car battery?

What are my options? I sometimes left lights on by mistake and drain battery in garage, I was told I have several options besides using a jumpstart cable drawing from others. What are the options; I know of a shop-fitted umbilical thing and portable UPS-like thing, what exactly are they called and how much would they cost? Are there other options I could go for?
