I want to lock my luggage should i?

I am flying out to california for a wedding and the dress i bought is really expensive! i am wondering if it is a good idea to lock my luggage. If i do will the TSA or whatever cut open my lock? i own a lock and am not planning on bying a TSA lcok, will that effect any thing? i would just apreaciate the added scurity!
