Witness a car accident and now being blamed...?

Witnessed a freeway accident (I was no where near involved) so I called 911 and waited to give my statement. It was a chaotic scene - lots of cars stopped to help so I thought there would be many witnesses. Turns out, I was the only witness and I believe that's why the person who caused the accident is now blaming me claiming I was closer than what I was which is impossible or he would have hit me also. My insurance company says it's a 'wait and see'. Should I be worried? After this incident, I don't think I'll ever stop again - amazing what happens when you try to do the right thing.....
